Short Poem: Going in Search of Love

I’ve seen dozens of beautiful marriages,
My detective eyes have beheld a thousand beauties,
And all these got me thinking one night;
How long I needed to pluck a rose.

I needed nothing more than determination, I’d thought,
Freely allowing my cerebrum to kindle a beautiful plan,
As my hippocampus, neocortex, and amygdala were quick to record,
The fantastic plot I’d come up with.

I left when no one was watching,
Hitting the road leading to the ‘home of love’,
Where two are bounded to become one,
With the sticky bond of emotions.

The night came beating cold,
And the day beating hot,
But my heart kept beating soft,
And my enthusiasm beating bold.

Until I arrived at the entrance of the other world,
I didn’t think of taking a break,
To wash my soiled feet,
Or take a dab sleep.

I looked through the gate,
Which had no one to man,
Looking huge and strong,
Bagging the shape of a heart.

I adjusted my drenched jacket,
Walked in like every other journeyer,
Surveying the gorgeous and fascinating attributes therein,
Before finding a narrow queue where everybody fell into.

I drifted my legs towards the queue,
Trying to make out the event,
All I saw was an angel,
Making every Two into one.

The exercise sent a boost to my oxytocin,
But I was quick to tame my impatience,
Waiting for my turn like the others,
To be cuffed to the twin of my heart.

It was eventually my turn,
To be crowned for my bravery,
With a maiden of real beaut,
By the aged angel of love.

But it all came as a shock,
When I was deprived of a union,
With the one I sought,
From many miles away.

I was told to be patient,
Because I was running a race,
Faster than my two legs could go,
Which might cost me a lifetime.

We Played Love

That careless night
Our lips interlocked

Enjoying the toothless breeze
Beating from every direction

My hands itching upon your seductive skin
Our breath fading away like smoke in thin air

An indelible moment
When we shamelessly played naked under the bare moon

Dancing happily to the melodious tone carved from your moan
Gallantly unmoved by the beaming eyes of the Almighty

Smiles broadly drawn upon our faces
Without a knowledge of the consequences of our action

Back To The Source

Let’s go back to the root,
Where our fruit of affection sprouted,
With a river of water,
To wet it daily,
So it’d not die again.

Let’s go back in time,
To the street where we first shared a kiss,
With a bucket of recollection,
To hold it permanently,
So the memory wouldn’t wither.

Let’s go back to the gate,
Which we forced open to dwell in its heart,
With the locks of our hearts,
To seal it permanently upon ourselves,
So the strangers don’t get to crow.

Let’s go back to the road,
Where our journey first began,
With a packet of matured steps,
To walk it perfectly,
So we don’t get to separate ever again.

You and I

You say you love me,
But deceit, is all I perceive.
You vow never to desert me,
But already, I feel lonely.
You sing to me sweet love songs,
But in the middle, I rummage lies.
You send me motivating morning text messages,
But I see you as the barricade, standing in my way.
You may mean all you do and say,
But maybe I’m the ingrate, tired of us.

Sometimes, we are the problem

Evil Bird (a short poem)

Our love used to come like the dew
Fresh at every sunset without blemishes
Together we were so strong
And nothing could come in between us
We were labelled “perfect” by all
And everyone wished to be us
As we were envied by the young
So were we praised by the old
Our chain of love seemed unbreakable
Our pot never ran out of the sweet red love
We happily remained slaves together in a cage of love whose key was long missing
Until that very cursed day
When the key was found by the evil wind
Exposing us to the beast that resided in it
It approached us like a saint
With a venom of disunity and deceit on its lips
The very enemy we hid our precious love from all along
You kissed its lips and became infected
Drunk by the lies it fed you
We became a laughing stock
Our dignity and respect we lost
We were yet another lesson for people to learn from
A perfect example of failure and disappointment
You left me to drink from the cup of shame
To eat from the bowl of regret
To roam in a garment of disgrace
While you eloped with the evil bird
To live a new life of dishonor

A Broken Relationship

Heartbreak is a common thing, which is very normal. Broken relationships are avenues to learn and be better. It is not expected of you to go into a relationship, the same way you went into the former. You must have grown, having more experience about what a relationship entails, and putting them into use in your future relationship. It makes your present relationship better than the former. But if you are the type who has gathered no knowledge from the past, then it is not impossible you get a breakup again.

Just because your relationship with him/her didn’t work doesn’t mean you should never give love a chance again. In the same manner, that does not imply you should settle for someone who you don’t really have feelings for, because you think you might never get the real man or lady of your dream or you think the only person you love genuinely is the one you just broke up with. It is better to be patient, than to take a regrettable decision. Don’t act under pressure or influence. Remember, there is always a right man/lady, out there, and with time, things will fall in place. Don’t do silly things, that can cut you off from getting a hold of the opportunity. One day, you would be happy you let go of that man or woman. Always stay strong.
